What is Seeking Alpha?

Seeking Alpha is the largest crowd-sourced investment research site: thousands of contributors publish analysis on more than four thousand US-listed stocks and ETFs, and every stock carries a Quant Rating and A-to-F factor grades for value, growth, profitability, momentum and revisions, each against its sector. Premium adds the article archive, the screener, earnings-call transcripts, broker-linked portfolios and notes with dated reminders. What it deliberately does not do is compute a value: its own quant FAQ explains that it avoids discounted cash flow because the result is too sensitive to the assumed growth rate. Lemma Analysis takes the opposite view — the sensitivity is the point, as long as you can see it and change it.

Where Seeking Alpha shines

A huge base of independent analysis on US-listed stocks, including more than a thousand that Wall Street does not cover.

Quant Ratings and factor grades that place each stock against its own sector at a glance.

Earnings-call transcripts with audio, dividend grades, and portfolio notes that remind you on a date you choose.

Why choose Lemma Analysis

A value, not a grade

Seeking Alpha grades a stock against its sector; Lemma Analysis asks what the company is worth — Advanced DCF, Ben Graham, Simple DCF and the Dividend Discount Model, on one axis against today’s price, every assumption yours and a bear, base and bull case behind each. Part of Ultimate, seven days of which comes with every new account.

Your reasoning, not an author’s

Articles are other people’s theses. Every valuation here starts from the company’s own filings and leaves the argument to you — then keeps your thesis with a review date until you reaffirm it or exit.

Multiples against the company’s own past

The Fair Value tab judges seven valuation multiples against the company’s own history rather than against its sector — a different question from a value grade, and often a different answer.

When to stay on Seeking Alpha

You read to find ideas

If your ideas come from reading other investors’ arguments, Seeking Alpha’s contributor base is unmatched; Lemma Analysis publishes no contributor analysis of companies.

You lean on transcripts and quant grades

Unlimited earnings-call transcripts and a sector-relative quant rating on every stock are Premium’s core, and neither has a counterpart here.

Its notes already keep you honest

Premium’s portfolio notes carry dated reminders, which covers the habit our thesis journal is built for. If that is the part you use, you have it; what we add is the valuation beside it.

How to switch

01

Create a free account

Sign up in a moment — no credit card. Seven days of Ultimate come with it; the portfolio, the watchlists and the Quality Score stay free afterwards.

02

Value a stock your way

Open any ticker’s Intrinsic Value tab: Advanced DCF, Ben Graham, Simple DCF and the Dividend Discount Model, drawn on one axis against today’s price, with every assumption editable and a bear/base/bull case behind each.

03

Screen and build a watchlist

Screen for candidates, then track them on a watchlist with a margin-of-safety target so each name carries an undervalued / fair / rich signal.

04

Write the thesis and review it

Record why you own each position and give it a review date. Reaffirm or exit when the date comes due — a habit the other tools don’t give you.

FAQ

Is there a Seeking Alpha alternative with a DCF?

Lemma Analysis prices a company four ways — Advanced DCF, Ben Graham, Simple DCF and the Dividend Discount Model — and draws them on one axis against today’s price, with every assumption editable. Seeking Alpha grades valuation against a stock’s sector and runs no DCF of its own. The four models are part of Ultimate, and every new account gets seven days of it without a card.

What does Lemma Analysis do that Seeking Alpha doesn’t?

It computes a value you can argue with: four models with a case on each, seven multiples judged against the company’s own history, and a five-pillar Quality Score on every plan. Seeking Alpha has the articles, the transcripts and the quant grades, and we say so.

Is Seeking Alpha Premium worth it next to Lemma Analysis?

They answer different questions. Premium sells other investors’ analysis and a sector-relative rating; Ultimate, at $8.99 a month or $79.99 a year, sells the tools to value the company yourself. If you read more than you model, Seeking Alpha is the better fit.

Does Seeking Alpha cover stocks outside the US?

Its quant ratings cover US-listed stocks and ADRs, not foreign exchanges — the same reach as Lemma Analysis, which covers companies listed on NASDAQ and NYSE, ADRs included.

Can I bring my Seeking Alpha portfolio across?

There is no direct import from Seeking Alpha. Watchlists are quick to rebuild by ticker, and a portfolio comes across as transactions — typed in on the free plan, which holds 1 portfolio of up to 10 positions, or on Ultimate imported from your broker’s CSV export or synced from Trading 212 or Interactive Brokers. Start with the positions you know least well; that is where a written thesis earns its keep.
